You’ve got to know the Bible to know God

The Ocean off the Japan Coast

Matthew 22:29 (NLT)

Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.

Ready for miracles in your life? Religious people tell us miracles are a thing of the past. Really?

The Lord Jesus makes it really clear. People who know God and His Word will see the power of God as they step out in faith.

The faith cycle is easy.

  1. Read the Word and listen to great teaching
  2. Act in faith and believe for the miracle
  3. Rejoice for the miracle and tell people about it
  4. Do it all over again. Back to step one.

Give To God What Is Due

Matthew 22:19-21 (NLT)

Here, show me the coin used for the tax.” When they handed him a Roman coin, he asked, “Whose picture and title are stamped on it?”

“Caesar’s,” they replied.

“Well, then,” he said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.”

If you come to our church you’ll find that we have discovered that God blesses us through our tithes and offerings. We read the passage and think, ‘yep, we’ve got to give our T&O (tithes and offerings) to God’. That’s absolutely correct. But at the same time God wants something more valuable. God wants you to give yourself to Him. How do you do that?

Giving yourself wholly to God is simple. You must just make your relationship with God your number one priority. Yeah, pay your taxes and do what you have to do as a world citizen. More importantly, talk to God all the time. Thank Him all the time for the things He is doing, and the things he’s going to do. Thank Him for what you have and thank Him for what’s coming. Talk with Hm all the time. Once you begin talking with Him He will talk with you. Now, you better watch out as God moves more in your life! Give to God what is His. That’s you!

Called and chosen

Matthew 22:14 (NLT)

“For many are called, but few are chosen.”

This is a misquoted Bible passage. There is a group of people who believe everything is predetermined by God. Whether you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and savior, walk in divine prosperity, live healthy and strong, succeed or fail… they say it’s all already known/decided by God. This is wrong. Your life is a choice. If you are failing today it’s because of the decision you made yesterday. Your life is all about making right choices.

God is calling everyone, but God only chooses those who chose Him first. You are called but have you chosen? The decision is yours.

Faith Believes

Matthew 8:13 (NLT)

Then Jesus said to the Roman officer, “Go back home. Because you believed, it has happened.” And the young servant was healed that same hour.

We have to get talking in line with our believing. If you believe you’re going to talk about what Gods doing. If you don’t believe, you’re going to talk about what’s not happening. I’ll go with believing God and declaring His goodness every day. How about you?

Are Miracles For Today?

If you don’t believe in miracles, you’re not a Christian.

-Keith Moore

This seems like a strong statement, but not if you really think about it. God is the God of miracles.  If we stop expecting miracles in our lives then we have stopped believing God.  If we stop believing God, it means we have no relationship with God.

Being a Christian means being Christ like.  Did Jesus perform miracles?  Yes!  Do His disciples perform miracles?  Absolutely!  Do we see miracles today?  Without a doubt!  Miracles happen when you and I believe.

If you’ve not been building your faith by reading the Word (the Bible), spending time in prayer, and being at church every week under anointed preaching of the Word, then you are missing out.   Your relationship with God is completely reliant on you.  As the Word says,

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.James 4:8 (NKJV)

Draw near to Jesus!

Doing Things Quietly And Righteously

Matthew 1:19 (NLT)

Joseph, to whom she was engaged, was a righteous man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly.

Sometimes as believers we think we have to lay it all out on the table. That is not the case. There are times when you just have to quietly withdraw.

In our ministry, when I was traveling one week we asked one of our dedicated church leaders to preach the Word that Sunday when would not be in country. It bothered a particular person that we had appointed them to share. This other person decided that they didn’t want to be a part of our church due to a person preaching that they didn’t like. Unbelievable, as we hear so much about people looking so long and hard for a church home in our nation before they find our ministry.

The departure didn’t stop with the person just stopping attendance. The individual tried to pull others out of the church. To the point of talking to multiple people and trying to influence other church family members.

Note Joseph trying to quietly back out of the marriage that he thought his fiancée had failed in. Rather than draw a lot of attention to her and the issue, he decided to quietly leave. The Word says this is good.

If your church becomes cultish, that is an issue. However, if it’s preaching the Gospel and people are coming to Jesus you’d better not be caught talking, or working, against it. The church is very special to the Lord Jesus. Remember Matthew 16:18 ? If you work against it, you are working against Him. Don’t line yourself up with the enemy, AKA the accuser or destroyer.

Whatever you say or do, always carefully consider what God has planned and what He would do. Be a righteous person like Joseph then you can enjoy the abundance God has for those who believe.

God is standing at the door of your heart

Revelation 3:20-21 (NLT)

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends. Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.
