Why Christians Should Speak In Tongues

As I minister around the world, I see a resurgence within the body of Christ for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In God’s people from all denominations, whether pastors and other leaders or the people within the congregations, there is a cry for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This is a definite move of God, as the altars are full of people desiring to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. Men, women, youth and children are activating their faith and are receiving this precious power from above. Grown men and intellectuals who have struggled for years with receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit are receiving instantly and weeping for joy as they begin to speak in tongues.

Speaking in tongues is the beginning step to being baptized in the Holy Spirit, and is for every born-again believer. Luke 5: 37-38 says, “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the new wine will burst the wineskins, and it will be spilled, and the wineskins will be destroyed. But new win must be put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” When you become born-again, your spirit becomes eternally alive and heaven bound with Jesus. Concerning the gift of tongues, it is given to all believers who believe and activate their faith to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit Peter said to them in Acts 2:38-39, “”Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call.” Speaking in tongues is for all believers, from the time of the early church on the Day of Pentecost to today with ourselves and to our children and to our grandchildren and to their children—until the day of the Lord’s return.

Speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to speak” (Acts 2:4). And your supernatural language from God is the evidence that you have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. And is the beginning of your journey into the supernatural realm with the Holy Spirit.

Now, when being baptized in the Holy Spirit, you must activate your faith, as with any other promise of God. The Holy Spirit will not force you to open up your mouth and speak. You must cooperate with Him, open up your mouth, move your tongue and give voice to the words springing up from within your spirit. And that’s how you activate your faith to be baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

We are to speak in tongues when we pray. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 14:18, “I thank my God that I speak in tongues more than you all.” How often do you speak in tongues? You should speak in tongues daily, and often throughout your day. Praying in tongues opens up this miraculous realm for you.

  1. Endued with Power. “And look, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49). This power gives you the ability to take the kingdom of God, and His promises by force and activate power to those all around. You see your enemy, Satan, does not want you to manifest God’s promises in your life. He battles hard against you to keep you from walking in victory. But as you learn to activate the gift of tongues when you pray, you cause this enemy to loosen his grip, and your miracle manifests.
  2. Speak Mysteries. First Corinthians 14:2 describes these mysteries for us. For he who speaks in an unknown tongue does not speak to men, but to God. For no one understands him, although in the spirit, he speaks mysteries.” This word “mysteries” (Strong’s G3466 – mystÄ”rion) means hidden thing, secret or mystery. When you speak in tongues you speak into existence the hidden or secret things God has planned for you. I have seen this principle work time and time again in my life and ministry.
  3. Encourage Yourself. Paul admonishes us in first Corinthians 14:4 that “He who speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” Speaking in tongues launches you outside of the realm of depression and into the realm of joy.
  4. Magnify God. Cornelius and his household began to speak with tongues, and magnify God. Acts 10:46a says, “For they heard them speaking in other tongues and magnifying God.” I tell you the truth: If we would begin to speak with tongues, it would prevent us from magnifying the wrong things, such as the works of Satan, including sickness and disease, and we would all be a whole lot better for it. Begin to speak with tongues and magnify God.

This is an amazing revival of the Spirit of God, and as God’s people begin to speak in tongues, not only do they themselves change, but entire families, congregations, communities, businesses and ministries transform as well. Don’t miss out on what the Holy Spirit has for you. Be baptized in the Holy Spirit, speak with heavenly tongues and release its benefits to those around you.

We Must Walk By The Spirit To Be Free

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Romans 8:1 (NKJV)

Many of us know about there being no condemnation as a follower of Jesus, but we forget that we have to walk by the Spirit.  Here in the Greek Spirit is pneuma, the capitalization of Spirit by the translators of the NKJV translation of the Bible indicates that we think pneuma here is the Holy Spirit.

We agree with that thinking, but at the same time, we are believers should be ‘spiritual’.  We should walk by the Spirit which is our human spirit in tune with the Holy Spirit.  Here you can see pneuma as both the Holy Spirit and your human spirit in union with the Spirit of God.  We must walk by faith, we must walk by the Spirit.  We must walk by our spirit in tune with His Spirit to be free from condemnation.

Lord, I Want To Receive My Sight

And Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to Him; and when he came near, He questioned him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, I want to regain my sight!” And Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him, glorifying God; and when all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.  –Luke 18:40-43

Jesus puts faith right on us.  For the blind man, He asked him what he wanted.  The blind man said he wanted to see.  Jesus didn’t say, “God, please heal this blind man if it be your will”.  Jesus spoke to the blindness, and the results were based on the faith the guy with the need.  If you believe you will receive, when you pray according to God’s will. God’s Word is His will.  When you know God’s Word, you know His will. Faith praises God for the Victory!

How Reliable, Biblically, Is The GotQuestions.org Website?

GotQuestions.orgIf you search on the net for Bible related questions you will surely find Michael Houdmann’s Got Questions.org website. The website is apparently his full time job that he started after Bible school. He writes weekly articles from his home in Colorado and solicits giving from people on their mailing list. Houdmann does a good job answering a lot of questions about life with Bible verses that he quotes. Overall he’s doing a good job of getting lots of content on the net and answering some basic questions. However, we have received a lot of questions about the answers there.  We will answer your questions about how reliable and true to the Word of God his site is from a Spirit-filled believer’s perspective.

Generally, it is interesting and can be used as somewhat informational but you can’t trust GotQuestions.org essays all too much. From our research, it is written by people coming from a very conservative, evangelical religious perspective. Apparently the ‘whatever happens to you is God’s will’ group (we call it Dark Ages Mentality or DAM). For example, anything about the Holy Spirit is usually not in line with Spirit-filled believers or people accustomed to the Biblical beliefs such as what the mainline Assemblies of God, or the Foursquare Christian groups know or expect.

Recently, Mr. Houdmann’s was labeled as a false teacher by several other Christian ministries. Why is this? It is likely the result of “what comes around goes around”, or just plain old ‘sowing and reaping’. He answers the typical questions about Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses with the usual cult responses, but he doesn’t stop there. He also labels other Christian ministries as cults or ‘scripturally off’ who are not cults but just different from his background.

Ministries that we see leading people to Jesus and helping people to walk in His ways are labeled cults and should not be. We don’t see him as a false teacher but from the site answers, just more as an over-zealous traditional religious person.

Generally, Mr. Houdmann seems to be working hard on his website Got Questions.org, raising funds,  and trying to develop new sites. But like any information on the net, there’s good but unfortunately, there’s a lot of error.  Error comes when people write about what they do not understand or have not experienced.  It completely missed the boat on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit calling the Baptism “tongues” and saying that this ended with the destruction of the temple in 70AD.  You wonder, “What Bible did that come from”, if you are already baptized in the Spirit and seeing miracles working in your life.  After all, Jesus said we would do greater works than He, because He was going to the Father in John 14:12.

Although, generally interesting reading, the website can sometimes be a distraction, misleading, and divisive among the church.  From a Bible-believing Christians’ perspective, it’s better to see his essay’s as  needing to be examined according to the Word of God.. Would love to see him and his website helpers baptized in the Holy Spirit and promoting unity among the body of Christ that would surely bring more people into the Kingdom. I hope that answers your question. 😉

UPDATE 28 April 2016- FaithPro.org BETA

There is so much misinformation and religious teaching out there that distracts us from our relationship with God, we have decided to do something about it.  We want Jesus, not religion.  The Spirit is our teacher according to John 14:26.  It’s time to get inspired answers to life’s questions directly from the Holy Spirit who inspired the men and women who wrote the Bible.

We are creating a new site is called FaithPro.org.  We all need inspiration.
